So far mermaids have been a steadily growing obsession of mine! Of course my older obsessions are still ever present: Plants, peafowl, etc.
There is a neat series on Netflix called Mako Mermaids that I just got into watching today. While some of the special effects are cheesy (fast swimming scenes showing just a trail of fake bubbles is especially cheesy) so far this show really "pulled me in" or pulled me into the water you could say haha. I like the story line so far and that is what really has me captivated. I can already tell that this show will feed my growing mermaid/merman addiction.
Mernetwork has become the equivalent of Backyard Chickens to me. Backyard Chickens has a peafowl section on the site forum so that is where I go for my peafowl fix, but Mernetwork is where I go for my merfolk fix! I don't feel as at home at Mernetwork as I do at Backyard Chickens, but I know that will take time as with anything.
I feel like such a silly mermaid...I have only swam in a tail once and have yet to swim in my new, better fabric tail yet I am already thinking of what my next tail will be made out of and I am already dreaming of having a silicone tail!
There has been a bit of worry in the merfolk community about the large influx of new members. Everyone is okay with newbies, but the main worry is that the new members are just a part of a trend movement and only want to be a mermaid for a short time because it is "trendy". Also some of the new members are having trouble fitting in and there have been some misunderstandings with the wording of posts and thus it creates arguments/drama. While I joined back in 2013, it wasn't until recently that I got a tail and started being active on the site. I really hope that I am not seen as an annoying newbie or someone who is not serious.
Well I feel like no one is going to read this but I will pass out some links here anyways:
