Later this month I will be a counselor at a camp and on the last night there will be a Medieval banquet. My boyfriend and I have already been asked to wear our Renaissance attire and the kids/teens going have been encouraged to dress up for the banquet. Usually the themed nights at camp are decent, but I was wanting to get involved with this banquet to really make it more of an immersive experience.

Here is what I have so far:
  • I have compiled a list of old English words that I will try to memorize and use at the banquet, but also I will make a few copies of this list for other people to use if they so wish.
    • I will be bringing bunches of peacock feathers for decoration, and perhaps using some to decorate the meat since peacocks were a dish served in Medieval times and often their feathers were put back on them for presentation purposes. Of course we won't be eating peacock!
      • I might make or print off some art that would be from the period, or I could print off or make art that is a spin off from art from this time frame. I am not quite sure yet if I should keep it authentic or a bit silly.
        • Another idea was to use clear colored plastic to make fake stained glass windows to put over the existing windows.

Other than that I need your help for ideas! I really want to transform the mess hall into a great dinning hall but the mess hall is light shades of white and it has a lot of windows. I am not quite sure how to transform it all between lunch and dinner time and searching on the internet results in lots of cheesy stuff.

I am obsessed with peafowl. That basically sums up part of me lol. I breed and raise peafowl so I love all of their noises and pretty feathers.

I also love plants. I love tropical plants the most...Things like tree ferns, cannas, bananas, helliconia, shell ginger, elephant ears, bamboo, etc. I like gardening but my garden isn't super spectacular. XD

I have been drawing since I was really little and have stuck with it. I don't draw every day but I do draw enough not to get worse but better. I don't know what I like to draw the most. I like to draw a lot of different things and probably go through phases where I like to draw certain things.

As far as college goes, I am studying Graphic Design and have no clue what I will do once I am out of college! Hooray me!

My boyfriend is amazing and he is not only my boyfriend, but my best friend. I met him in art class and I am very happy that he is an artist so it is supper fun to talk about art with him.

Ah yes I have spoken to Friedrich Esser. He is very nice. I can't view that page since I am not on facebook but I am sure he has wonderful photos on there. He travels around to document and photograph wild green peafowl. He has 2 nice websites and he lives in Thailand breeding Indo-Chinese peafowl that are from wild caught birds.
