Mermaid Top

I know a few journals ago I mentioned getting into being a mermaid. I haven't said much else about it, but I am still pursuing the mermaid thing for fun. I got a monofin for Christmas, but unfortunately I have not been able to try it out yet due to being busy and needing to find a time when my boyfriend can come too so I don't drown haha. My fabric tail is halfway finished.

I used a plain strapless bra as a base. Then I hand sewed everything onto it. 3 different kinds of fake plants, various beads, fake and real pearls (long story), and the crowning jewel - a circular piece of dicrotic glass mixed with regular colored glass that my Mom made. I thought about making a custom glass piece for this top, but I was lazy and liked this piece she made but hadn't sold. The bottom left photo shows the glass up close. I glued it on with E6000.

While it is a strapless bra, it came with clear straps which I will be using and you can see them in the photo. The fake plants are not itchy. The ones that come down to my belly button get a bit itchy sometimes, but not enough to drive me crazy.
